Overcoming Pancreatic Cancer

These three-and-a-half weeks home have been a joy. I am back to the weight I was before the three weeks in the hospital in March.  I have been able to eat foods that are pureed or can be chewed to that consistency. This is a joy after being on an obligatory fast for most of the hospital stay.  The tumor had not appeared to have grown through late March, for which I am thankful.  I was advised to start radiation and low-dose chemo. These are scheduled to begin on May 10.  I went in for the scanning and measuring for radiation this past Monday. The lengthy procedure on a hard CT scanning table was not very comfortable. However, afterwards one of the medical staff said my attitude during the process was very inspiring and encouraging. That reminded me that this adventure is not just about what I want or my comfort. Greetings, friends! These last two weeks since my hospital discharge have flown by. I have savored the sweet moments with family, the beauty of spring, and the hope of resurrection. Some days are challenging, but I do feel stronger and continue working and praying to rebuild strength. I was encouraged recently by the freedom and peace that come in resting in God's perfect love: "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." - 1John 4:18 This coming week has some more consultations and visits. I pray for full healing and God's will to be done in the path forward. Thank you for your ongoing support in prayer! May each of you be blessed. May God encourage and strengthen you. Christ is risen!  He is risen indeed, Alleluia! A blessed Passover and Resurrection Sunday to each one of you! I am thankful to God for his amazing power, creativity, and love.  The death of Jesus paid the price for us to be purchased from the kingdom of darkness and become citizens of the kingdom of God. Jesus' resurrection show he has conquered death. We thus have hope of life in him. I am also grateful for God's grace to me. I was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, April 1st, in the evening, and I am thankful to be able to celebrate Holy Week and Resurrection Sunday with family.  The new stent is allowing me to take oral nutrition, which is a huge blessing. I am working to rebuild strength and seek God's continued healing and wisdom for next steps.  It was a blessing to be able to walk yesterday in the country and enjoy being out of the hospital after over three weeks of being a daily inpatient.
